Spurious liquor deaths: Police register case against Malladi Vishnu

Hyderabad, Dec 8: Police today registered a case against former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu in the spurious liquor deaths that occurred in Krishnalanka area of Vijayawada. Malladi Vishnu is the ninth accused in the case in which five persons had died so far and several others are hospitalised. Meanwhile, the Excise Department officials ordered all the wine shops and bar & restaurants in Krishna district. They are also conducting raids on several wine shops, liquor depots and bar & restaurants in the district. As the victims had consumed Officer's Choice brand of spurious liquor, the officials are collecting samples of the brand from across the district for conducting lab tests.
