Congress to skip Amaravati fete

Hyderabad, Oct 20: Andhra Pradesh unit of Congress party has decided to stay away from capital city foundation-stone ceremony scheduled to be held on October 22. Speaking to the reporters here today, former Minister S Sailajanath and Kondru Murali alleged that government not only forcibly acquired 35,000 acres from farmers but also urged centre to denotify 50,000 acres forest land. The government ignored the recommendations of Sivaramakrishnan Committee on capital city. Large tracts for fertile lands are acquired to benefit realtors, they said. Sailajanath said that they were not invited in a proper manner. Though we are not against Amaravati, we boycotted the ceremony as TDP is organising it as a party affair.
