Gold zooms past Rs 27,000

Hyderabad, Oct 14: Driven by firm overseas trend and an increase in buying by domestic jewellers, the prices of yellow metal today zoomed past Rs 27,000-level. The ongoing festive and wedding season has added to the demand. Meanwhile, silver too recovered by Rs 500 to settle at Rs 37,300 per kg following increased offtake by coin makers and industrial units. In Singapore, gold climbed 0.5 per cent to USD 1,174.81 an ounce, the highest level since July 6, sources said.
