Cat meat being used in biryani in road side eateries

Chennai, Sep 25: Cat meat is being used in biryanis and others food items in road side eateries in Chennai, according to reports. Police launched investigation on decline in cat population in the city and found that cat met was being used in roadside eateries. It is learnt that some nomadic communities are catching cats and selling the meat to roadside eateries. Animal activists said that cat meat is unfit for human consumption. Police and health officials are planning to carry raids on eateries. Many people believe that cat meat is aphrodisiac and has several medicinal properties. Eateries sell cat meat as mutton preparations to unsuspecting customers.
