Financial crisis stares at AP

Vijayawada, Sept 19: The cash-strapped Andhra Pradesh is staring at serious financial crisis. In this connection, the finance depart had issued orders to all treasuries in the state not to make payments to bills dated after September 8. The government is said to be finding it difficult to even meet expenses related to staff salaries and most important bills. With hardly any revenue coming in, the state government had recently increased the land registration fees. Even that is not sufficient to meet the basic expenses, sources said. Until alternative orders are issued, the government had instructed the treasuries to keep bills submitted after September 8 in pending status.
