2,000 Indians to be exempted from security checks in US airports

Delhi, Sep 15: A select group of Indian celebrities and important personalities would be soon exempted from frisking and security checks at all the airports in US. Few days ago Indian and US officials held negotiations to make India a party of US Global Entry programme. The pact ensures smooth entry of Indians into US, bypassing long queues and waiting for hours during security checks. The first batch of people that will be given the facility at airports include former President Pratibha Patil, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautham Adani and film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Shah Rukh Khan and several other Indian celebrities were subject to embarrassing pat-down check ups at US airports in the past. One should not have any criminal record or be connected with any kind of economic offence to become eligible for Global Entry Programme.
