Sonia, Rahul condole deaths in Andhra accident

New Delhi, Aug 24: Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on Monday condoled the deaths in a train accident in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh that left five people dead. "I am shocked and anguished over the Bangalore-Nanded Express tragedy and extend my condolences to the families of the deceased," Congress president Sonia Gandhi said. She said she hoped adequate relief and rescue work was being undertaken at the accident site. Rahul Gandhi also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. "Very sad to hear about the tragic accident of the Bangalore-Nanded express. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims," he said in a tweet. The congress leaders also conveyed their condolences to the family of Congress MLA A. Venkatesh Naik, who was killed in the accident. Naik was an MLA from Devadurga reserved assembly segment in Raichur district of Karnataka. At least 20 people were also injured when a truck hit a coach of a moving train near Penukonda in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Monday.
