Govt issues land acquisition notification; Cong, YSRCP, Left protest

Guntur, Aug 21: The Andhra Pradesh government has invoked Land Acquisition Act to collect land from farmers in the capital region. The government has already acquired 33,400 acres under land pooling process and it invoked the Act to collect another 3,892 acres agriculture land. Guntur Collector Kantilal Dande has issued GO No 304 for acquiring 3,892 acres land in 10 villages including Thullur(2) and Shakamuru. Government roped in 26 Special Deputy Collectors to acquire land in these villages. The government will release another notification for collecting land in 19 other villages tomorrow. Tension prevailed in the villages after the government issued notification. Congress, YSRCP and Left parties and farmers associations staged demonstration against the notification at CRDA office.
