Cops arrest colleagues in red sanders case, SI absconds

Tirupati, August 21: In a surprising development, when Renigunta police went to arrest their colleagues in Chittoor district for their involvement in the red sanders bribing case, the accused Sub Inspector of Police Rajasekhar Reddy is believed to have absconded on Friday. Meanwhile, Renigunta police have remanded Head Constable Kumar and Constable Chinababu in the same case. The three policemen, belonging to Vadamalapeta police station were accused of exhorting money from red sanders smugglers. Police filed case under various sections. According to police, Vadamala SI Rajasekhar Reddy took into custody red sanders smuggler Shiva recently and gathered information about other smugglers. The SI, Head Constable Kumar and Constable Chinababu threatened the other smugglers through Shiva and collected about Rs 20 lakh from them. They tortured Shiva forcing him to collect another Rs 4 lakh. Unable to bear the physical torture, Shiva turned to Renigunta rural CI and a case was filed on Renigunta police. During their investigation, the police found about Rs 5 lakh cash in SI Rajasekhar Reddy's table draw. They also found about Rs 11 lakh from Vadamala police.
