AP defers plan to shift administration
Hyderabad, Aug 20: The Andhra Pradesh government has put on hold the plan to shift the administration to Vijayawada due to the 'local' status issue of employees. The government wanted to shift at least 10,000 employees to the Vijayawada, Guntur and other places in the capital region. But the employees raised 'local' status issue and demanded an immediate solution to it. As per Article 371-D of Constitution, people living in Hyderabad are considered as non-local in other zones for the purpose of employment and education. If the employees shift to Vijayawada, their children would not be considered under 'local' quota. Senior IAS Officer MK Meena told the media that it would take at least four months to resolve the issue. The Union Cabinet should take a decision on the matter after seeking opinion of Law and Home ministries and should send it for President's assent.
