HC takes up plea on Ganesh immersion in H'Sagar

Hyderabad, August 17: High Court today started hearing on the petition filed challenging immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar lake. The petition suggested the immersion of Ganesh idols should be done in the same way as it is done in Bengaluru. The Court asked the Telangana GHMC to study the possibilities for not conducting the immersion in Hussain Sagar. The GHMC was told to submit its report. The next hearing of the case was posted on August 27. The environmentalists of the city were afraid of decrease in the depth of the lake with thousands of Ganesh idols immersed in it. They said the depth has come down to 40 feet from 60 ft. At some points, the depth is just 20-30 ft.
