TPCC chief Uttam arrested for dharna

Karimnagar, Aug 12: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy was arrested today while staging a protest at Bejjanki in the district against the government's decision to scrap Thothapalli irrigation project. Uttam along with senior Congress leaders and former Ministers Sridhar Babu and Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former MLA Praveen Reddy and others staged a road blockade on Rajeev Rahadari at the town. As hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the highway, police arrested the leaders and shifted them to Bejjanki police station. The Congress leaders demand the government to withdraw the decision to shelve the project. Tension prevailed for some time during the arrest of the leaders. Later, they were released personal bonds.
