AP to distribute five star rated home appliances

Hyderabad, Aug 06: The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to provide 5 star rated electronic appliances to all households on installments to conserve energy. AP State Energy Conservation Mission mooted the idea to do away with energy inefficient devices in a phased manner. The government will direct all departments to purchase five star rated equipment during the first phase. Like the LED bulbs which have been provided on subsidy, the five star rated home appliances will also be provided on subsidy to people. The decision was taken at a review meeting conducted by Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao yesterday. It may be noted that state government launched a scheme to distribute 2.5 crore LED bulbs in the state with the cooperation of Energy Efficiency Services Limited.
