Police offer guns to IT firms
Hyderabad, Aug 03: In the wake of Central government alerts after the terror attack in Gurdasapur and hanging of Mumbai bomb blasts accused Yakub Memon, the Cyberabad police have decided to arm corporate companies in the region.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said that many IT firms have expressed interest in the proposal. Sources said that police are planning to offer two arms each to 500 registered corporate companies in Madhapur-Gachibowli stretch.
As of now, only Wipro has armed security. The move helps the private security guards to handle hostage situations, lone-wolf attacks or others crises till police or other security agencies take over operations.
The police had also directed the companies to keep a vigil on the internet usage of employees to nail ISIS terror outfit sympathisers.
