The ruling TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh is moving ahead with a well-planned strategy for the upcoming urban local body elections. The coalition has completed the seat-sharing process for the municipal elections due in 2026. Alliance leadership has taken a final decision clarifying which party will contest in the state’s 17 municipal corporations and 106 municipalities and nagar panchayats.
As in the recent general elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has secured the lion’s share of the seats.
Municipal Corporations Allocation (17)
Of the 17 municipal corporations, TDP will contest in 11, Jana Sena Party (JSP) in 4, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2.
This allocation will shape the future of key cities such as Greater Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tirupati. TDP has retained major corporations including Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Tirupati and Machilipatnam. Jana Sena candidates will contest in Vijayawada, Kakinada, Srikakulam and Eluru, while BJP has been allotted Rajahmundry and Anantapur.
