Acid attack on woman lecturer

Chittoor, July 16: A lady lecturer was battling for life after her former husband threw acid on her at Piler in Chittoor district yesterday. The victim Zareena Begum works as lecturer at Piler Degree College. She married Khaja Hussain from Tirupati in 2011. She divorced husband as he got addicted to vices and started harassing her. Hussain several times asked Zareena to reunite with him and attacked her. On Wednesday, Hussain noticed that Zareena was waiting for an auto at the college. He reportedly pulled her by holding hair and threw acid on her face and fled away. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took a serious note of the incident and directed the officials to shift the victim to CMC in Vellore for better treatment. Students across the district, boycotted classes and staged protests demanding action against the accused.
