Govt mulls to provide 1 flight/year for middle class

New Delhi, July 16: The Narendra Modi led NDA government is planning to ensure air travel a reality for common man. According to officials in Ministry of Civil Aviation, the government in its civil aviation policy will take necessary measures to ensure at least one flight per year for a middle class family. However, the officials did not elaborate on the measures to be taken by the government in this direction. The government is planning to reduce the operational costs of air liners and to increase accessibility to people. The government is planning to order aircraft in bulk for all operators in order to reduce procurement cost. Speculation is rife that government will amended 5/20 rule which mandates five year domestic operations and a fleet of 20 aircraft to launch international services.
