ANU student’s suicide: 3 seniors suspended

Guntur, July 16: Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) suspended three senior students in connection with the suicide of B Arch first year student Rushikeswari. The Guntur police took the three accused into custody. The accused were identified as Anisha, Jayaraj and Srinivas. The victim was staying at Priyadarshini hostel on the university campus and Anisha was her senior and roommate. Anisha reportedly forced the victim to move close with her classmates Jayaraj and Srinivas. Rushikeswari committed suicide on Tuesday after Jayaraj and Srinvias stalked and behaved in an inappropriate manner with her at a movie theatre. Though the victim’s uncle lodged a complaint on the alleged harassment with the college principal, action was not taken. The police registered a ragging case and started investigation. In the suicide note, the victim alleged that her big dreams were shattered due to the repeated stalking and harassment of seniors. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
