Pratyusha's father arrested

Hyderabad, July 16: LB Nagar police nabbed Pratyusha's father, Ramesh on Wednesday night. He will be produced before the court on Thursday. Pratyusha, a 19-year-old girl and resident of LB Nagar, was tortured by her step-mother Chamundeswari alias Syamala, for about one and half years. It was alleged that her father, Ramesh, a junior telecom officer in BSNL, was a silent spectator. The police have arrested Syamala while Ramesh was absconding. The girl was rescued by a child's rights body on July 8, with bruises and cuts all over body. She has been under treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad, since one week. Pratyusha said after treatment, she will not take shelter with her relatives but will stay in the state home. She said that she will pursue higher studies if any donor comes forward to help her.
