TS mulling to take over CBIT

Hyderabad, July 11: The Telangana State government is contemplating to take over Chaitanaya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, in view of an alleged embezzlement of funds. Sources said that Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao is actively pursuing the matter. Harish Rao is also the president of Telangana Affiliated Colleges Teachers’ Association. Sources said that the government will hold discussions on the matter after the completion of admission process. Another important reason for Telangana government’s move is that Union Minister Y Sujana Chowdary and his followers are controlling the college. The college is administered by a trust registered under Societies Act but there were numerous allegations on collecting huge sums for management quota seats. The faculty members of CBIT and MGIT (sister concern of CBIT) are in favour of government taking over the institutions. TRS MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said that educational standards of the institute have been falling for the past few decades. He informed that his father Justice K Madhava Reddy was excluded from the governing body for opposing sale of management quota. He alleged that Rs 400 crore donations were embezzled over the past 10 years.
