World's oldest man dies at 112 in Japan

Tokyo, July 7: Sakari Momoi, a Japanese man recognised as the world's oldest male by Guinness World Records, has died at the age of 112, a media report said on Tuesday. Momoi died of chronic kidney failure at a hospital in Tokyo on July 5. Momoi, who lived in Saitama city near Tokyo, was recognised by Guinness as the oldest man in August 2014, Xinhua news agency reported. Following his death, Yasutaro Koide, a 112-year-old man residing in Japan's Moriyama-ku, Nagoya, has become the oldest man in Japan, according to the Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry. Misao Okawa, a Japanese woman recognised as the world's oldest person, died at the age of 117 in Osaka in April.
