PM Modi Expresses Deep Shock Over Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Tragedy, Announces Ex-Gratia Aid

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed profound grief and shock over the tragic accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Vizag Steel Plant), where a ladle containing molten steel exploded, claiming the lives of nine workers.In a statement, the Prime Minister said the incident deeply saddened him. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and conveyed his sympathies to those injured in the mishap.

As a mark of immediate support, PM Modi announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). The families of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh each as ex-gratia, while the injured workers will get ₹50,000 each. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel.

The Prime Minister noted that local authorities are providing all necessary assistance to the affected families and assured that the government stands firmly with them during this difficult time.

The accident occurred on Monday evening when the ladle carrying hot molten steel exploded at the steel plant, resulting in the death of nine workers.
