VCK sent support letter via email to TVK Party
In a significant political development, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has extended its support to actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), boosting the latter’s chances of forming the government in Tamil Nadu.
VCK made the announcement through its official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that it has formally sent a letter of support to the TVK party via email. With this backing, the strength of MLAs supporting Vijay has now reached 118.According to the details, TVK, along with the support of Congress and Left parties, had 116 MLAs backing it. VCK, which won two seats in the recently held Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has now tipped the numbers in favour of Vijay by extending its support.
VCK remained undecided until yesterday. While initial reports suggested the party might withdraw support over unmet demands from TVK, the party later confirmed its decision to back Vijay. VCK also shared an AI-generated image on social media showing its leader and TVK chief Vijay shaking hands, symbolising the new political understanding. This development is being seen as a major relief for TVK, which is attempting to stake claim to form the next government in the state
