YSR Congress seeks white paper on Pattiseema expenditure

Hyderabad, May 8, 2015: Slamming the hyperbolic and tall claims of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the Pattiseema project, YSR Congress has demanded a white paper on the amount spent on the Polavaram project so far. “Nowhere in the history of irrigation did anyone claim of irrigating 2 crore acres of land and bringing 1000 TMC of water from Pattiseema which is beyond limits of exaggeration even. We demand that the TDP should be categorical as to where the storage capacity exist and also release a white paper on the progress of Polavaram,” party leaders K Parthasaradhi and Kothapalli Subba Rayudu told reporters here on Friday. Chandrababu Naidu is known for tall claims and circulate them for discussion to bid some time and resorts to such measures to deviate public attention from the corruption charges he and his party leaders are facing and to downplay the inefficiency of the governance, they said. “Or else how can anyone believe that 2 core acres would be brought under cultivation. The maximum extent of cultivation in the State is over 69 lakh acres, after adding the 20 lakh acres that turned fertile with YSR Jalayagnam. The massive difference in the extent of area only shows that Chandrababu Naidu either has no grasp on the irrigation sector or he just wants to keep people in an imaginary world to forget the non-performance of his government,” they said. If 1000 TMC of water is to be brought in where is storage capacity? YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after visiting the project sites and shown to the world there is hardly storage capacity for 2 TMC of water. The highly exaggerated figure is only to deviate the public attention from his failures. “The Pattiseema project was never mentioned in the electioneering. What he said during elections is not being fulfilled and what he did not tell is being taken up as there are kickbacks running up to Rs 500 crores. The Neeru-Chettu project is not to mitigate the drought but to benefit the cadre from the village level overriding panchayhats and elected sarpanches. The de-silting has come as a boon to sand mafia and corruption is unabated,” they said.
