Keep up poll promises, YSRCP tells TRS

Hyderabad, May 2: The Telangana unit of YSR Congress would soon chalk out a programme to protest against the TRS Government for its failure to keep up election promises and it would be gearing up to face the ensuing elections to the civic bodies in the state. “The executive committee of the Party has resolved to take up the issues of farmers, meager fund allocation to SC, ST sub-plan and unrealistic promises to minorities on reservations and we will sit on a dharna to highlight the failure of the State in paying adequate compensation to the farmers,” Party Telangana unit President P Srinivasa Reddy told reporters here on Saturday. “The executive has discussed mainly on strengthening the organizational structure, the strategy to be adopted in the ensuing Khammam and Warangal civic elections besides GHMC and the way people are disappointed with the TRS government which failed in fulfilling its poll promises,” he said after the meeting. Brushing aside the rumours, he said, YS Sharmila and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will also tour Telangana region. We will be a force in the coming municipal elections of Khammam and Warangal and as of now we have no tie-up with any Party. Describing the concept of Mission Kakatiya as good, he said, it should not fall in wrong hands. We appreciate the good work done by TRS but at the same time will voice the concern of the people. Though TRS has promises to give 1 lakh jobs yearly, not a single job was given so far. The plenary was held with heavy police force which shows that the State failed to keep up its promises. Farmers were not paid adequate compensation and are facing many hardships, he said. While YSR has given pension to all the deserving persons, TRS is laying down conditions to cut down the number. In Kothagudem itself the 8,100 pensions given under Asra scheme were scaled down to 3,600 by March April. There is no proper allocation of funds for SC ST Sub-plan and the promise of increasing the percentage of reservations to minorities is not feasible. On the irrigation front, YSR has taken up 28 projects of which six are nearing completion and the State should expedite the rest, he said adding that people of Telangana have benefitted immensely by YSR policies. There is no need for any changes for Pranahita-Chevella project, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said.
