TS culls 1 lakh birds so far as bird-flu origin remains mystery
Hyderabad, April 16, 2015: The animal husbandry department of Telangana has successfully completed culling operation on yet 50,000 bird-flu affected birds on Thursday taking the total number of culled birds so far to 1.2 lakh by this evening.
However, the officials are yet to find out the origin of the bird-flu that has dealt a deadly blow to the poultry farms in and around Hyderabad.
The animal husbandry officials said that the culling operation will continue tomorrow also.
"The total number of birds culled would be around 1.45 lakh when we complete the operations tomorrow," they said, adding that a central team of Health Ministry officials from Delhi has monitored the operations today.
With the deadly bird-flu virus hitting the Hyderabad poultry farms, the animal husbandry department began the culling operations on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the poultry market has taken a beating in Telangana.
