IPL 2025 Sets Record for Most 200+ Scores in a Season

It is known that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clashed on Friday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first and posted a massive total of 231 runs. With this, the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League has officially become the edition with the highest number of 200-plus team scores in the tournament’s history.

So far in this 18th edition of the IPL, teams have crossed the 200-run mark on 42 occasions. This surpasses the previous records of 41 such instances in 2024, 37 in 2023, 18 in 2022, and 15 in 2018. With several matches still left to be played this season, the count is likely to increase further.

Gujarat Titans (GT) currently hold the top spot for most 200-plus scores in this edition, having achieved the milestone seven times. Following them are Punjab Kings (PBKS) with six such scores, and both Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) with five each. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have reached the mark four times each, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have done so three times.

In Friday’s encounter, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs. Chasing a formidable target of 232, RCB were bowled out for 189. Although RCB had already secured a spot in the playoffs, this loss caused them to drop to third place in the points table. Gujarat Titans remain at the top with 18 points.
