AP Govt issues circular allowing women to work in night shifts
Hyderabad, April 5 ,2015: As part of the measures to keep its promise of making AP a global investment destination and enhancing employment opportunities for the youth , especially girls, the AP Government on Sunday issued a circular allowing women to work in night shifts in SEZs across the state.
In another development, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the Director of Factories to implement safety and security measures for the women working in the night shifts.
In the same tone, he also asked the factories and companies employing women in the night shifts in the state to initiate strict measures to provide occupational safety to women.
The companies employing women must provide rest rooms, toilets, dining halls and night creches for women and their baby kids wherever necessary in the company premises at any cost.
The companies should also constitute separate cells for preventing sexual harassment of the women employees at work places besides ensuring transport and other logistics so that they can have a hassle free transport facility for attending to work and going home back.
Multi-national company Kellogg's at Sri City in Chittor district could be the first to employ women during night shifts in AP.
