Uttam says water grid works given to AP contractors, seeks cancellation

Hyderabad, April 5, 2015: Telangana PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy has demanded cancellation of water grid contracts. "There are several contractors in Telangana but all water grid works are given to the AP contractors. Minister KTR has conspired with them," Uttam Kumar Reddy has said and demanded cancellation of the contracts. The PCC chief said that according to a central government report, safe drinking water is supplied to 70 per cent villages in the state. "In such circumstances, drinking water can be supplied to the rest of the villages in the state by spending just Rs.10,000 Cr . Where is the need to spend Rs.40,000 Cr in the name of water grid project, " he asked. There is no proper report on the project as yet but tenders were called, he remarked.
