Colonel Manpreet Singh's family in Mullanpur, near Chandigarh, has been receiving numerous visitors since the sad news of his martyrdom in a gunfight in Anantnag's Garol forests on Wednesday. On Friday, a touching moment was observed when his six-year-old son, dressed in military attire, saluted his father's remains. As Colonel Manpreet's body arrived in Mullanpur, his wife, mother, sister, and other relatives were deeply saddened. A video showed his son paying tribute, with his younger sister watching nearby. Colonel Manpreet, a third-generation soldier, leaves behind a mother, wife, a two-year-old daughter, and a six-year-old son. His final rites were held in his hometown of Mullanpur in the Mohali district of Punjab.
