On Friday morning, a sloth bear that had wandered into areas near the Srisailam temple was safely captured by the Forest Department. The bear had been seen around Sikhareswaram, causing panic among the temple visitors. After a recent incident where a young girl was suspected to have been attacked by a leopard on August 11, forest officials quickly set up a cage on August 16 to catch the bear. Deputy Director (Forest) Alang Chang Theran also warned everyone about a leopard spotted close to the temple on August 15, asking people to be careful. People visiting the temple can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the bear has been caught.
