Vijayawada: Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S Abdul Nazeer, appointed two new members, namely Karri Padma Sree and Kumbha Ravibabu, to the Legislative Council. Governor Nazeer made these nominations using his prerogative as per the Governor's quota, following the conclusion of the six-year terms served by Chadipiralla Sivanatha Reddy and N M D Farooq. In the gubernatorial order, Nazeer, who holds the position of Governor of AP, formally designated Padma Sree and Ravibabu as members of APLC. These appointments were made by Governor Nazeer by exercising the authority vested in him by Article 171 of the Indian Constitution. Pursuant to Sections 156 and 157 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, it is the Governor's responsibility to nominate individuals for these two MLC seats. The tenures of Reddy and Farooq came to an end on July 20th.
