As tomato prices continue to rise across the country, a temple in Karukudi, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, has taken an unconventional approach to address the issue. In a special pooja held on the occasion of the full moon of the month of Adi, the deity idols in Sri Mariamman and Nagamman temple were adorned with a one-of-a-kind garland made of 508 tomatoes. Alongside the tomato garlands, the idols were also decorated with traditional garlands of flowers and lemons. Temple officials organized these special pooja programs with the intention of curbing tomato prices. The event drew a large number of devotees who actively participated in the unique ceremony.
