Tirumala: In a significant development, the forest department officials released a leopard into the Talakona forest range on Saturday. The leopard had earlier attacked a three-year-old boy near the Seventh Mile point adjacent to the Tirumala Ghat road. The incident occurred on Friday late night and caused concerns among the local community. The injured boy, hailing from Adoni, was on a trekking expedition to Tirumala with his family when the unfortunate incident took place on Thursday night. Prompt action was taken by the forest department to trap the leopard and ensure the safety of both the residents and wildlife in the area. On Saturday, the forest officials successfully released the caged leopard in the forest area behind the Kalyani Dam in Tirupati district. This remote location within the Talakona forest range, situated in the scenic Seshachalam hills, provides a suitable habitat for the leopard.
