Kanchipuram: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was approached by a group of homemakers during her visit to the Pazhaiyaseevaram village in Tamil Nadu's Kanchipuram district on Monday, April 4. The group requested the minister to reduce cooking gas prices during their interaction with her. Sitharaman was accompanied by Minister of State L Murugan during her visit to the village, where she launched the 'wall to wall' campaign for the 2024 elections. The finance minister enquired about the government benefits and schemes among the locals when the homemakers approached her. In response to their request, Sitharaman explained that the price of cooking gas is determined by the international market, as India imports it from other countries. She added that if the international prices reduce, the prices would also reduce in India, but unfortunately, it has not decreased much in the last two years.
