Outside 10 Downing Street, Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy don poppies as they attend a fundraiser for the Royal British Legion. The Royal British Legion intends to replace the plastic stem on Remembrance Day poppies with one made of a new biodegradable substance, making them more environmentally friendly. There is no higher sacrifice than that of those who give their lives for their country, the prime minister wrote in a tweet. Therefore, I ask that you give generously during this year's Poppy Appeal in honour of our past and present warriors as well as those who are still defending us today. Every year, the annual appeal raises almost £50 million to help The Royal British Legion support the armed services community.
