The Royal Mint in Wales is presently creating the first coins with the image of King Charles III, which will gradually replace the ones bearing the late Queen Elizabeth II's image and go into circulation in December. The late monarch is honoured on the reverse of the coin with a design that was originally on her 1953 Coronation Crown. It features a shield-like representation of the four quarters of the Royal Arms. A rose, a thistle, a shamrock, and a leek are the symbols of the U.K. nations that are placed between each shield. The Royal Mint, the official maker of UK coins, released information about the production on Friday.
