An unpleasant encounter was experienced by a Manipuri couple at the Ikea store in Hyderabad after they were allegedly prevented from shopping. The pair claimed that they had encountered racist comments. They posted about the incident on Twitter and questioned the staff's decision to stop them after letting all the other customers have their turn. They alleged that all employees of the Ikea Store continued to act in the same manner. Minister KT Rama Rao, the son of chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, has now intervened, escalating the situation further. The act, according to him, was "appalling and completely inappropriate." He wrote directing Ikea store, "Pls make sure an appropriate apology is given and more importantly educate, sensitise & train your employees to respect all your customers respectfully.
