Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a packed audience in Berlin on Monday and spoke at length on India's recent prosperity. Addressing members of the Indian diaspora in Berlin, PM Modi poked fun at Congress, claiming that the country no longer needs to pay exorbitant fees to move money because all systems are digital. He declared that no Prime Minister will have to lament the fact that when he sends one rupee, just 15 paise reaches the intended destination. "Woh kaunsa panja tha jo 85 paise ghis leta tha," he remarked, without addressing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. In the last seven to eight years, PM Modi stated, his administration had transferred more than Rs 22 trillion to beneficiaries through direct benefit transfers(DBT).
