Search giant Google has extended its choices for protecting personal information from online searches. On Friday, the firm announced that users will be able to request that more sorts of content, such as personal contact information such as phone numbers, email addresses, and physical locations, be removed from search results. Other information that may constitute a danger for identity theft, such as confidential log-in passwords, can also be removed under the new policy. Google has previously advocated for the elimination of information such as bank accounts and credit card details that could be used to commit fraud. Google says it needs to rethink its policies in light of the reality that information usage is shifting in unforeseen directions.
