Telangana Rashtra Samithi Lok Sabha members issued a notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday seeking to bring a privilege motion against Union minister of state for tribal welfare Bishweshwar Tudu for deceiving the House on tribal reservations. The TRS has previously asked that the Union minister be sacked for speaking false facts in Parliament. While speaking to the media subsequently, TRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao said that the Union Minister denied that Telangana had made any proposals on the topic of reservations for STs. Previously, the Telangana government not only proposed increasing reservations, but also enacted a bill increasing STS reserves from 6.8 percent to 10 percent and submitting it to the Ministries of Home Affairs and Tribal Affairs. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs did, in fact, consent to the matter of increasing ST reserves in a letter dated December 18, 2017.
