  • 3K Walkathon Awareness Program in Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals on the eve of “World TB Day”
Hyderabad, March 24, 2021:  Telangana Should be a Tuberculosis (TB) free state by 2025 Said LBNagar MLA Sudhir Reddy. On the eve of World TB Day "3k Walkathon" an awareness rally conducted by Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital in Lb Nagar Byramalguda on Wednesday. MLA Sudhir Reddy, who was attended as the chief guest at the event, had earlier said at a function organized at the hospital premises that.. in the past, TB was a very deadly contagious infection. If anybody had the disease and he should stay out of the village or he would  Dump out of the village.  People are becoming more and more frightened by this disease just like the recent Corona the MLA explained. Gradually, better medicines and treatments became available for TB with the help of scientists and doctors. Union and State Governments put a special focus to eradicate TB just like Polio.  The MLA called on everyone to work for the prevention of tuberculosis in the same manner as the state government has taken the initiative to eradicate many diseases in the state with special measures taken by the medical and health Department.

Dr Sudhir Prasad, Consultant Pulmonologist and Sleep Medicine Consultant, Aware Gleneagles  Global Hospitals, said that one-third of the total tuberculosis patients in the world are in India. He suggested that TB could be prevented by raising awareness about the disease. One Should Consult a doctor immediately if symptoms such as sudden weight loss within a few months, mild fever at night, profuse sweating during a fever, or persistent cough for months appear. "Along with the tests for TB, treatment would also be provided free of cost at any government or private hospital in the state. Union and state governments have set a target of 2030, 2025 to eradicate tuberculosis. TB could be eradicated from the world if everyone was tested and treated with prior knowledge" Dr Sudhir Prasad explained.
 
After that, the MLA launched the "3K Walkathon" from the hospital to Saroornagar Lake by fly the balloons. The awareness walk went through Lingojiguda, Saroornagar Chowrasta to Saroornagar lake and returned to the hospital. EX Corporater Srinivasa Rao, Dr Mervin Leo,  COO, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital, Dr Sukesh Kumar, Head of Medical, Dr Isaac Soumil, Head of Operations, and medical staff of the hospital participated in this Walkathon.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease. It is one of the major chronic diseases in India. TB is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Whether it is related to the lungs, the disease can spread to any part of the body, from the skin to the brain except Pancreas, thyroid gland and hair only.
