Venkaiah Naidu Participates in Agritech-2020 Conference

  • Vice President of India M.Venkaiah Naidu participated as Chief Guest to the 2nd Edition of Exhibition and Conference on Agri-Technology and Innovation at PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
The 2nd edition of Exhibition and Conference  Agritech south 2020, Agrivision 2020 has begun here on Saturday at the professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Auditorium in Rajendranagar. Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the Conference and Exhibition later, he spoke on this occasion he suggested the agricultural scientists encourage the crop diversification for ensuring of profitable agriculture. He also suggested that the farmers must be educated to divert from the growing of traditional crops like rice and wheat for gaining more profits form the farming.

Vice President said that there is need to encourage the farmers to taken up the  Agriculture  allied activities such as fishy culture, horticulture, prawn culture, poultry, dairy and silviculture in addition to regular farming activities  forgetting more of profits from agriculture. Venkaiah Naidu has suggested that sustainable agriculture is the need of the hour. He urged the agricultural universities, Krishi Vignana Kendras (KVK's) scientists should work on to develop new pest resistant and high yielding varieties which could enhance the farm incomes. The Agricultural scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders of the agriculture sector should work hard to face the challenges in the sector. he suggested that there is a need to develop and encourage the food processing, value addition for agriculture produce in the larger way he added.

The Agriculture Minister of Telangana S Niranjan Reddy has said that the state government has implementing several reforms for making agriculture more profitable. Under the Rythubandhu scheme about Rs 12000 crores were given as input grant to the  57 lakh farmers he said. 

Dr. V Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, PJTSAU had delivered the conference theme address. he said that in a short span of time university has achieved several laurels to the university and stood 3rd place among the agricultural universities in the country. Dr. Rao said that the university is realigning its research activities with societal needs. 

CII Chairman Telangana D Raju, ICRISAT DG Dr. Peter Carberry, Convenor - CII Telangana agricultural panel GV Subba Reddy Agritech south Chairman Anil Kumar V Epur were also present in the inaugural session. later, Vice President inaugurated the exhibition at the university sports complex. several farmers, university officers, a large number of students, agriculture faculty and scientists have graced the program.
