Razor Movie Review

Ravi Babu, known as an actor, director and producer, often experiments with different kinds of films. After a short gap, he has directed and acted in Razor, which released in theatres this Friday.

The story begins with Home Minister Kanakaraju, who wants to become Chief Minister, killing CM Seetharamayya with the help of his sons. The murder visuals accidentally reach Vishnu (Tanish), who runs a CCTV camera business. When the Home Minister’s team learns this, they kill Vishnu and his wife. Their daughter Teju witnesses the murders.

At the same time, Rudra (Ravi Babu), who runs a mobile pet grooming business, comes to the house to groom their dog and saves Teju from the attackers. Before dying, Vishnu partially tells Teju where he has hidden the video clips related to the CM’s murder. From there, Kanakaraju and his gang repeatedly try to kill Teju, while Rudra protects her. Did Rudra hand over the video evidence to the government? How did he save the child? Did Kanakaraju become CM? The answers are in the film.

Ravi Babu promoted this film as an action survival thriller. The opening feels somewhat interesting, but as the story moves forward, the interest gradually drops. Since there is hardly any freshness in the story, the narration struggles from the beginning. More than the story and screenplay, Ravi Babu seems to have focused on violent action scenes. The violence crosses limits in several places. Some scenes showing brutal attacks on bodies are difficult for sensitive viewers to watch.

The film also lacks logic in many situations. Ravi Babu builds scenes according to his convenience rather than maintaining strong reasoning. However, his attempt to connect the story with present-day technology works to some extent. The portions involving the hidden video clips, how Vishnu stores them, and how technology is used in that track feel interesting. With more time spent on writing and a better screenplay, the output could have been stronger.

Ravi Babu performs well in a serious role and carries most of the film. Other characters appear briefly and do not leave much impact. The background score and action design are effective. The cinematography is also good.

Overall, Razor Movie Review points to a film filled with extreme violence, weak logic and uneven narration. Though a few technical elements work, Razor may find it difficult to impress a major section of the audience
