On Saturday, a tragic accident took place in the Leh district of Ladakh. Nine soldiers, including one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and eight other soldiers, died when their truck fell into a deep gorge. Defense officials reported the accident, adding that one more person was injured. The truck was traveling from Karu garrison to Kyari near Leh. About 7 kilometers before reaching Kyari town, the truck skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge. The truck was part of a group that included an SUV and an ambulance, carrying a total of 34 personnel. They were all part of a recce (reconnaissance) party.
