Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the tricolor at the Red Fort for the tenth successive year, on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day celebrations. Before the flag-hoisting ceremony, Prime Minister Modi was accorded a guard of honour by representatives from the three branches of the armed forces, near the historic Red Fort. Addressing the nation on this momentous occasion, Modi proclaimed, "As the world's largest democratic nation, we stand as a global leader. Our vast country, inhabited by 1.4 billion people, is commemorating Independence Day today. I extend my heartfelt wishes to all. Our freedom is the outcome of countless sacrifices, and we remember and honour those sacrifices." This year's celebrations welcomed around 1800 specially invited attendees from various corners of the country to the festivities near the Red Fort. The event was also graced by foreign dignitaries and representatives from different nations, casting a global spotlight on the occasion.
