Thane: In the last 24 hours, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, Thane, recorded eighteen patient fatalities, including ten women and eight men, with six from Thane city. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has initiated an independent probe committee, headed by the commissioner of health services and including key medical personnel, to investigate clinical aspects of the deaths. The deceased, ranging in age from 4 to 83, suffered from complications like kidney stones, paralysis, pneumonia, and more. The committee will also address allegations of negligence raised by some families, focusing on treatment protocols and collecting statements from relatives.
