In honor of National Handloom Day, expatriate Indian women in London organized a walkathon showcasing traditional handwoven attire. Around 500 women from various Indian states joined the event, parading through major streets in London wearing traditional sarees. The event was spearheaded by the 'British Women in Sarees' group, led by Deepti Jain. Highlighted in the procession were Pochampally Ikkat, Gadwal, Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, and Uppada sarees. Participants lauded the craftsmanship of handloom artists. Additionally, traditional dances were performed at Parliament Square, drawing attention and admiration. The event concluded with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The organizers aimed to showcase India's rich handloom heritage to a global audience.
