Renowned folk artist, Gaddar, known by many as the "people's singer," passed away on Sunday while receiving treatment at Apollo Hospital. A household name in Telangana, Gaddar was celebrated for turning his powerful words into inspirational songs. He played a significant role in the Telangana movement, using his music to address the injustices faced by the region. Born as Gummadi Vithal Rao in Toopran in 1949, Gaddar was associated with the Naxalism movement until 2010. Afterward, he became a prominent figure in the Telangana movement. Before his passing, Gaddar had undergone heart surgery. Sadly, after a recent illness, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital where he later died. His music and influence on social movements will long be remembered.
