During an overnight naval drone attack launched by Ukraine on Russia's Black Sea navy base in Novorossiysk, a Russian warship suffered severe damage. This marked the first instance of the Ukrainian navy projecting its power beyond the country's shores. The attack temporarily disrupted civilian ship movement at the port, which handles 2% of the world's oil supply and exports grain. However, operations at the port returned to normal after the interruption. The Russian defense ministry asserted that they had successfully repelled the Ukrainian attack, during which two sea drones were deployed and subsequently destroyed. Nevertheless, the defense ministry's statement did not mention any damage caused by the attack. According to a Ukrainian intelligence source, the Olenegorsky Gornyak, a Russian Navy landing ship carrying about 100 Russian servicemen, was struck by a sea drone carrying 450 kgs of TNT. The attack inflicted a serious breach on the Olenegorsky Gornyak, rendering it unable to fulfill its combat duties. The source claimed that
